How Does Self-Improvement Work?
“It's not what you are that holds you back.
It's what you think you're not”
Denis Waitley
It is a fact that self-improvement begins from within. Each one of us goes through life with many dreams often, some of these go unrealized. Invariably the reason for this is a lack of guidance – we know what we want, but we don’t know how to go about it. This is where the concept of self-improvement comes in. Self-improvement begins with knowledge of the self in order to take the necessary actions and motivate oneself to achieve one’s goals.
Basically, the process necessitates leaving one’s comfort zone and going beyond it to discover one’s true potential. This process differs between individuals since each one is different. Self-improvement is not always an easy process, but persistence can help achieve the goal. The first major step is taking stock of one’s current situation and making the decision to change.
Going About Self Improvement
Consciously or subconsciously, everyone experiences growth and development in life. At a young age, much of it comes through structured education. As we grow older, we develop the resilience to face the challenges of life. Each of us has different goals. While some aim at a comfortable life, some want to excel in what they do. At work, people continuously better their skills and knowledge to achieve their ambitions.
Self-improvement is an essential component of life since it allows us to achieve our goals. It involves making a plan of action and working out the best way to achieve it. Many self-improvement gurus suggest visualization, writing affirmations, hypnosis and so on as methods to help in self-improvement. These work very well so long as one knows exactly how to use them and when to do what. There are several audio products that claim to bring about self-improvement in the shortest possible time. Then there are those programs or methods that do not require the use of CDs or audiotapes to get started on the route to self-improvement.
But the fact about self-improvement methods is that for them to be really effective, the individual must work towards it, after setting goals that are reasonable. Hard work and dedication are a must for any self-improvement method to be successful. The great thing about various techniques is that they bring about a change in the person’s perception and attitude, along with their thought patterns so that they are more tuned to working towards their goals.
Just a few of the benefits one can get by making the decision to work towards self-improvement are:
* Develop confidence
* Become motivated
* Achieve success
* Get better at sports
* Raise great kids
* Lose weight
* Better memory and quicker learning
What Really Happens?
The person who has the goal, say, of weight loss, will think in such a way that their efforts are focused towards losing weight. They think twice when they are offered a second helping of food. They think about eating healthy and lose the bad habit of snacking constantly – and all this because they WANT to achieve their goal of losing weight. It follows from this that the change is from inside the person and not just any outside influence, making it all the more successful and long lasting.
Today there are plenty of websites with some amazing resources, ebooks and details of methods that are quite effective. These are especially helpful for those whose goal is to quit smoking and getting rid of other bad habits like drinking, etc. Some methods talk about ways in which you can actually program the mind – which implies that you can teach your brain to act and respond in a certain way. Experts however, advise users to preferably stick to one particular method that works, rather than switch from technique to technique. Some people do this in the hope that they can accelerate the process. Instead, they just end up spending more money and not achieving anything worthwhile.
Self-improvement takes time, effort and the will to do it – and that’s a fact. For the person who is really interested in making those all-important changes to make life better, it is all in the mind. Self-help therefore is the best help for helping YOU breakthrough limiting beliefs that are holding you back!

Boost Your Business with the Power of Viral Marketing
Boost Your Business With The Power Of Viral Marketing
Viral marketing is an essential marketing tool because you cannot expand your business without marketing it in some way or the other. It has long been proven that of all the advertising methods in use, the ‘word of mouth’ method works best in a localized scenario. No matter what the glossy ads may say, if a friend tells you of a product and how well it has worked, you become automatically predisposed to trying it out.

Don’t Use Pink Dancing Rabbits
The same holds true for viral marketing. This technique relies on people receiving intimation of your product – not from parties that have a vested interest, but from real live persons who have tried the product out and have something good to say about it. This sort of buzz carries far more credibility. Most businesses consciously try to create this with their advertising methods. This is why you see a lot more typically next door persons in the ads these days rather than pink
dancing rabbits. And if you do have pink dancing rabbits in your ads, then you better sell rabbit feed! (Since this isn't exactly an 'ad' I figured I'd splurge and post pink dancing rabbits... after all, Easter's on it's way! ;-))
To build a viral marketing presence on the Internet, you need to conduct your research very carefully. You will find a number of sites and blogs that discuss a specific situation or condition. Readers flock to these blogs to share their experiences.
Once you find these blogs, you can start contributing by commenting and sharing what you know about the subject. Gradually, you will find acceptance. That is when you can introduce your product or service. However you will have to be very careful that you do not even remotely appear to be pushing your product.
Tap The Power Of User Groups
If you find that there are a lot of user groups that talk and think about your product or similar ones like it, then you need to become member too. For example, if you specialize in golf equipment, you will need to become a member of some golfing clubs. Make your product available either for trials or as a giveaway and watch the closed community spread the news among itself.
Of course, for this type of attempt to be successful, there are two preconditions. First, your product must not be a commodity – something of whic
h there are ten thousand variants available, and the second – your product must not merely be good – it must be great. Do not attempt viral marketing techniques for products where the user will be satisfied with just any standard quality product – say table salt.
To sum up, viral marketing works extremely well if you can differentiate your product and it is used by a fairly focused, well defined group. If you have a great product that falls in this category, then viral marketing will give you great results.
